First up is science camp. This year was which second year RJC hosted this Inter-secondary school 3 days science camp. This is camp is title ‘Pirates of the Rafibbean”, quite an interesting name I must say. There are about 20 student facilitators from RJC science network who were either group leaders or station masters. I was a group leader together with Huang Yu and also in charge of night games. Alright!
The first day was rather stone, we gradually discovered how spontaneous our group is in the next two days and we had loads of fun together. The camp was filled with interesting science stuff, games, some random mugging sessions as well as lots of lame jokes which totally lamed me out. Here’s an example:
(We were on the third floor. There is nothing on the right side and the stairs is on the left side.)
A: Are you sure we are going the right way?
B: No, you will jump off the building.
C: The right way is left.
B: Yea we are going the left way.
D: That is the only way left!
Errr...
Science camp was a blast, but the night games were a little disappointing. Due to delays in schedule, our games time was reduced to 40 minutes, which was way too little for our games. In the end, we have to scrape the mass games and some groups did not complete the stations. Thanks goes out to everyone in the night games committee and everyone who is involved – Zek Gian, Kuangtus, Daniel Chew, Zi Xiang, Wei Jie, Zhi Qian, Bi Ran, Yizhen, Sihan. Great job guys, although we were short of time, we still did a brilliant job, especially with the obstacle course which is just miraculously constructed! Our hard work definitely has paid off, and without you we would not have done it!
Everyone in sealoonies (Dorothy, Gerald, Lorraine, Mei Zhen, Nan and Pamela), rock on!
Our obstacle course - Will Tunnel! We spent much effort constructing it. A short introduction on how this works. Two groups are blind-folded and will enter from either sides of the AVT. The room is dimly lit and emo music will be played (: The station masters will tell stories along the way until the two groups meet in the centre chamber made up of 5 pieces of long mirrors. The station masters will then narrate a few stories. BTW the stories and lines are brilliantly rhymed and professional. Great job chew and kuangtus (:
Here's the poem composed for the mirror chamber:Chew

RJC Science Camp'08
I went for relive@atrium the day after science camp. It was a RJC one earth co organized event, as well as my PW project where we had a documentary competition as well as a pledge and a booth. The four days were spent mending the booth and helping out with the event. It was an interesting experience; I got to know people from NTU and also random people whom I invited for the bikeathon challenge. Haha it was quite random but well, it was good to know 20+ year olds!
Bikeaton!

ISLE Vietnam recce trip was fantastic, Ms. See Tho, Mr. Shuko, E-lynn and I stayed at a hotel in Hanoi for four days. The routine is as follows: first day - sightseeing, second day – recce, third day – spotting for recreational activities, fourth day – visit Ho Chi Minh + flight back to Singapore. It was a completely different environment, with people roasting squids on the streets outside at night. Unfortunately, few Vietnamese knew how to speak English and as a result there is a huge communication barrier between us. Thankfully there is Viet around, our faithful translator who dried his mouth translating for us! Thanks Viet (:
Oh yea the best part of Hanoi is still the streets! There are few traffic lights, so we just crossed the roads like nobody's business and the cars and motorcycles will automatically avoid us. It was fun crossing the roads haha. The primary school visit was useful, as we confirmed some of our preliminary ideas, such as IT facilities, PE and english lessons, Bicycle Shed, etc. I do not have the photos with me now, so more photos and stories later!
Ok next up is SNYO camp. Since I rushed to camp directly from airport, I have to trouble my mum to bring camp stuff to airport. Ma fan ni le! Oh yes I washed and dried my clothes in Vietnam to lessen my mum’s load too. It was quite a chore to me since I seldom wash clothes by hand at home, so yah it was fun.
The camp was wonderful. (: We broke lots of ice this time round haha. I got to know many orchestra members better, especially those from my group (Carolyn, Shauna, Evan, Davin, Sophia, and Daphne). It was an experience working with the tour comm., and another trying to control the noise and briefing everyone during icebreakers. Things happen during the camp, but they got better along the way.
Double Bass Section (:
