I have so much to say; I don't know where to start - I guess, it's complicated.

At dinner today, somebody told me: army was the time when he thought about himself, others, life, and everything else. It was. I may not have many agreements on this, but I have to declare, proudly, that army was the best part of my life. It was through the toughest times, that I saw my flaws more clearly than I ever did; for which I fervently sought to improve. It was during that heavy downpour in the jungle, when I munched on a biscuit as if it was an exotic dish, that I forgot all my worries, and treasured my family and everything around me more than ever. I realized that Singaporeans are often too busy with life, and life, in all its complexities, is not a fast flowing stream. Sometimes, one needs to stop, and think; think about what has been achieved, and what have yet to be.

Now, I am on path to the next stage of my life. I have so much I want to do. I have too much to explore; and I will, slowly, gradually, but tastefully enjoy every bit of the marathon, that is life.

Two weeks ago, I received an sms from someone I don't know. He told me that there is space in an orchestra. I was excited. I can finally perform, after a very long break, with some of the best friends I have ever made, whom I have gone through the toughest journeys and the most ecstatic moments with; yet I hesitated. I don't want to be drawn back into the music scene, for arcane reasons I could not put into words. But I decided to give it a try. And here I am, playing the bass once again.

I admit, this time it feels slightly different. Many of us are now in university. Many of us are working hard, in the real world, for our ambitions, for our dreams. But all of us are here for the passion we shared.

Strangely, this time, it is the music that pulled me in. As I grow, I begin to appreciate things around me more and more; classical music is not an exception. Still, orchestra is not where I belong. I am searching for something else, something culturally different, something that is for me.

Over the past few days, I have been thinking, again. I realized I was never truly happy in many things I do - I have made many wrong choices and bad decisions. However, I now know what I desire, what I seek, and I will hesitate no more.

Time passes. People come and go; it's time to move on. Perhaps, by the fickle probability of fate, one day I will meet someone who is exploring on a congruent plane, someone on the same page as me.

Now resting at home after my ankle surgery yesterday, which removed scars and repaired cartilage from the anterior side of my ankle. First time on crutches; cannot move about; freaking painful. ZZ, at least the painkiller work.

Hope audit on tuesday goes well, don't think I can go.

City Hunter

Totally in the City Hunter mood! It is not because CH is the best drama I have seen, but because I watched it in the right place at the right time - a mixture of soundtracks that I like (very important, I am auditory person), actors/actresses who connect with me and a smooth plot that relates to me.

I always thought that being tall is bad, bad and bad in this society where most people are not that tall. But now that I have seen someone who carried himself so well despite being so much taller than others around him, I feel kinda relieved and inspired.

I am too used to comform; conform to customs, rules, school system, friends' opinions. It is time for a change, because I am an unique individual, not just another dude who can study and play music. I live with my principles and do things in my style. There is no reason to live in others' shadows, or be overly concerned with other's views.

I started watching City Hunter this weekend. It is such a sweet drama with a storyline that is close to my heart. The OST is.. just phenomenal.

It is hard to blog down this moment. I'm just.. so emotional. It has been a long long while. All of a sudden, I felt that my life has been quite exciting. Isn't it? Life is meant to live with a bang.

Oh.. And Park Min Young's character is my ideal type haha.

Filler music and soul music

I term some music as filler music, and some as soul music.

The latter brings the emotions out of your arid and diffident self and requires some focus and concentration, while the other is usually what you listen to while you are engaged in something else, be it reading or surfing the net.

I am pretty engrossed in kpop these few days because of many awesome new songs such as 'no more perfume', 'longer' and 'ugly'. In the past few weeks though, I have been hooked on to some trance songs. Overall, it has been a good few weeks in camp and at home with the accompaniment of some inspirational songs (: Really needed them.

It has been so long since I have sung! The free kbox at yesterday's YEC BGM was awesome, ignoring some slighty unpleasant incidents (may, nick and xiao qiang in the food). The MP was singing too lol he was damn gd haha.

Ao No Exorcist is so brilliant. I was listening to the ending, and all of a sudden went 'eh, sounds like a 2pm song', and wow it was really sung by 2pm (for their expansion into the Japanese market). Watching and listening to songs and shows I like are a major source of inspiration for me! I feel hyped up and start anticipating life in the future whenever I stumble upon them. Praise the lord (:

Every week feels the same!

Trapped in camp -> stressed as random arrows flying your way -> trying to calm myself down by using 'character development' as an excuse -> more stress -> read books, policies, econs, sms/phone random friends, laugh and joke with platoon/bunk mates -> book out loh! -> busy busy with movies/dinners/service/cg/working on scholarship interview and university preparations -> book in loh..

But at least now I know clearly what I want to do in life, and I started to see my past mistakes (:

There are so many things that I want to do:
- Learn bass guitar
- Learn dance (haha)
- Properly read up on econs/finance
- Join a chc ministry

I will start doing all these when everything has settled down!

Happy New Year!

New year comes with resolutions. So I will list them here to be etched in my memory lane.

1. The biggest regret in life is not that you aren't good enough, but that you have not tried hard enough - so work hard in w/e I do

2. Exercise and gym more often; afterall, when will I have such great opportunities to gym everyday after army?

3. Treat everyone nicely

4. Pray for others and myself as well (:

5. Keep in contact with overseas friends and friends whom I have lost contact with

6. Read lots of books

7. Get a life and learn the guitar!

8. Continue reflecting on my character, strengths, weaknesses and become a better person!

9. DO NOT complain too much when I am assigned lots of saigang, work smart (:

10. Spend more quality time with family, family is such an important part of my life

11. DREAM BIG, there's nothing wrong with that.

12. Having said that, DO NOT try TOO hard. Forcing things tends to lead to disappointment. Let things take the nature's course and at the same time, fulfill resolution (1)

Now for 2010,

The biggest regret I had was not exercising before enlisting to keep fit :( I have been living in self-delusion, thinking that I can handle everything that comes in my way. Overconfidence I guess sigh!

A summary of 2010:

- Did well in A levels, 7 As, slight regret that I gave up H3 to study econs (which is on the same day -___-) and got a merit in the end, but GP was so unexpected haha

- BMTC was a disaster, injured myself during SOC

- SITEST died, cannot adapt properly

- Did not get into MED, biggest emo period :(

- PSC was just wtf, what kind of question is when did Singapore become independent??!

- Went to scouts, the period where I learnt the most, about myself, was an 'up-there' soldier for a few months :D That was when I truly understood the spirit of sharing and caring, and what leadership means to me.

- Met a best buddy, Ming Cong, in camp, he taught me a lot of things about life. We were always there to help one another, thanks bro

- Attained my class 3 army licence, driving course is extremely stressful, but I made it through thanks to awesome friends. In the process, I failed Highway Situation Problems 3 times and driving test 1 time. Really depressed then come to think of it haha. Mr. Loh K H, although you are extremely sarcastic/spiteful, I know you are kind at heart and sincere thanks for your lessons, deeply appreciate them.

- Politics is everywhere, I hate it!

- Went to Jay Chou concert and k-pop j-rock concert! Super high period

- Injury got worse, OOC-ed to become pioneer aka engineer, the decision was a laboured one, really, many people do not understand why, but those close to me do

- Missed the scouts A LOT, became anti-social in pionner platoon for a while

- Opened up during engineer course and made many nice friends in pioneer platoon, what's up bros

- Bad attitude cropped up again as life becomes slacker. Reluctance to do saigang, help out, etc..

- Made a resolution to change for the better! Got rid of the 'late' habit

- Went back to cg after a long long time, sorry guys I was going through a crazily hectic period. I am so glad that my cg still cared and showed concern for me. God's blessing (:

- Did POI which is so damn tiring, down with dengue fever 39.1 degrees which is a +/-

- 8 days QRF at S A F T I, chalet-like place, Own-Time-Own-Target canteen break, mess, sleep, play (:

- Meaningful christmas, hallelujah

- Went to kbox after a long time, so refreshing! Thanks to my new friend for making it so fun!

- Concert with BHSO, unfamiliar with the members, but it was a great experience

2010 may not be the most exciting year, but it is definitely the most important year of my life thus far. What I have learnt cannot be described in words. Afterall, 2010 is the year where I went through tonnes of shit, and people who are usually around me are all far far away. Hardships make a man wiser and stronger, not just physically, but mentally as well, and that is what matters.

Ystd's night was awesome. Although it was only an hour long, we had a great time shopping for groceries for our upcoming 8-days stay in the new environment. I really like to be together with ppl I guess, it is kinda heart warming to be doing things tt we are all enthu about. After the dreaded long hours of standing-stoning sessions and the many internal disharmonies, primarily because of the word 'fairness', I am so looking forward to a more relaxing lifestyle and a well-deserved break (: The many stories I heard on the bus ride were shockingly frank. I have finally completed my engineer course. The regimentation and course schedule are bad, but luckily I have great company (: Enough about army, forget about stb, charges and mines. Let's move on.

I noticed my music taste changed after I graduated from jc. Maybe it is part of the boo-haa growing up process, or maybe it's not. I used to like emotional songs a lot, but now I listen to more R&B songs.

Being a scout is not as bad as I thought! The atmosphere here is much relaxed and my bunk mates are pretty cool haha. I need a decent break alright. I anticipate tougher training to come when we start out recce course, so I will try to enjoy life and do as much as I can now!

AIT is a pain in the ass mainly because we are attached to Bravo Company in 6 SIR. Administration matters are frequently messed up, resulting in long chains of waiting. I guess that is part and parcel of army. Suck thumb. Haha.

JC life has officially come to an end. It has gave me numerous memorable experiences, with bits of sadness in between. Bye RIJC. Bye friends. But always keep in touch!

Prom was good. It started out kinda boring and went on an exponential journey up I guess - from being awkward around so many different looking school mates to going around camwhoring and shouting yam seh at the top of our voices, standing on chairs. Hell yeah it was fun.

After prom, I went with my class to a bar where we ordered some drinks and played truth or dare. Haha it was certainly entertaining, especially tedrick kissing shuch lol. Oh yeah, 3 of us drank 'sex on the beach'. Haha, it is an alchoholic drink with a cool name.

4 am already and I just came back home. Oh well, I don't intend to sleep today as I have to send hy off at airport at 7am.

During the tournament, chicken A dominated all other chickens with its bankai 'peck peck' to emerge victorious. Played dota in the afternoon and it was damn fun! Haha we tried to get 40 kills for tomorrow's MCQ, and in the end on the dot 40 and ended game. LOL.

Anyway, yesterday was a hella obstacle course on my way back home. Some kid blocking the MRT gates, a toddler trying to grab my leg, and rain suddenly pouring down.. Wth haha.

SGC is damn fun to write lol. Feel like I am some uber imba person who is dedicated, determined, passionate, responsible, reliable and all the #@%@#%! all at once!

National Day today! Happy 44th birthday Singapore! I guess I am pretty much rooted to SIngapore already since I am all hyped up and feeling nationalistic now. Anyway, I was actually anticipating the 8:22 pledging but it turns out that it wasn't so spectacular after all. Oh well. Today is still an interesting day.

Yesteday I went to AMK library to study then Gid and I competed to finish a prelim paper haha. It's quite effective as we finished it quickly. But my score is low and I realized that there's so much more to study. And the worst part is I don't feel like studying.

YEC Biennal Meeting

YEC Biennal GM yesterday! The venue is this club in AMK Hub lol. The original venue is DXO club though but it got cordoned off for NDP preparations. Quite funky place with the bar and disco, and I discovered a new friend who has the same interest in alt rock, kpop and stuff as me haha. It has been a long time since I met someone with similar interests as me haha. Anyway, the singer there is imba and can sing any song on the spot with his cool mini guitar.

Jo's Church service in the afternoon was fantastic. Really meaningful and touching (:

I realized that I haven't been blogging for a long time haha. There's really nothing much to blog nowadays since school is dull everyday - the repeating mugging routine with little fun except for bball during our free per blocks haha.

We got a relief teacher for chem today and the girls were quite high for some reason cough. Then during GP I made so many blunders; lol I really fail at fashion stuff. Econs remedial in the afternoon was slow-paced but still enriching I guess.

Hmm counting down to prelims now, must start mugging hard already. If not now, then when?

Went to orchard central today and it is freaking cool lol. The place is so posh and I am really like, wow. The handicap toilet is imba haha. There are the lift-like open and close buttons plus the door opens with the mrt 'doors open' sound! Haha crazy toilet.

Holidays: First two weeks!

Hot Hot. What is wrong with the weather these few weeks man. K time to update my stagnant blog!

Ok chronologically here we go:

Last Monday: EC Networking@NEA was fun, especially the setting up of the 'complicated' spider web on the floor for one of the games with Chue Hsien lol. I left early though, due to my mum keep asking me to go home early haha. I did help out with the planning of the event, so I don't feel so bad I guess.

Last Thursday: Went to school for the university application essay talk by our dear counsellor Kevin Sim. He was hilarious as usual. the essays are interesting enough to silence the students who filled 2 classrooms, with the occasional laughter due to his lameness of course. I am having the feeling that you need to write some emo personal stories that doesn't seem so emo lol.

After that was kbox time! We went to this ulu place in Katong or somewhere near there. i cannot stress enough how ulu that place is wth. And our journey there was hell lol. We took the circle line to Bartley first thanks to a brilliant suggestion, and then took a bus to some place which is as ulu as the kbox place. Yeah basically we were lost, so we took a cab in the end and reached our meeting place, Payar Lebar MRT Station, half an hour late. Oh yeah, I saw this sakae sushi headquarters (I think) along the way and the green frog is gigantic lol. Ok back to the topic, it was another bus ride from the mrt station followed by a 2k walk. Wth man what a journey.

The kbox is quite small so it was a little squeezy inside, but the singing was fun haha. Spam like crazy lol.

Way back was wth too as we took another taxi back to Bartley station. Haha a pretty exciting day!

Last Friday: Econs remedial and half the class turned up.

Last Saturday: Took SAT at Starhub centre ad saw many familiar faces. SAT was quite tough in my opinion, not in others' though. Like the natty and the chris fang who said that it is easy. Oh well. Anyway, we three are in the same room 302 and our discussions during the break times are fruitful lo. I am sure they will agree too (: Now we know what does 'sinecure' mean lol! - An office position requiring little work but yielding profitable returns. Hmmm. After thaht went with Jappy and Ben to arcade@PlazaSing and played the basketball game. It was quite fun but my accuracy is fail lol. Chris and Ben, the imba boys, scored 620+ together. Madness man.

Last Sunday: Saw this mysterious shoebox at Bukit Batok Shopping Centre. Apparently there was some shoe sales. The curious me went to take a look. I didn't open it at all okay.

What a suspicious shoebox hmmm

LOL. I did not open it.

This Tuesday: Mugging@amk library was good! Most effective mugging day since the start of the holidays, though I only finished 3 pages of chem. This shows what I have been doing in the holidays so far haha. Actually the mugging was not that bad lah, at least I sorted out my organic chem concepts hmm. We went lan after that and played CC which is pure spamm and kaboom everywhere lol.

Ok that sums up my holydays so far I guess. Hot Hot. K I am retreating back to my air-con room NOW.
